Joining the VBMA Board

I’m really excited to announce that I’ll be joining the board of directors for the Viral & Buzz Marketing Association (VBMA). There are 15 board members and, I’m honored to be one of them. This is a relatively new group that was started in 2003 and what’s unique about the VBMA is that it’s an international organization of 1,200 individual viral, buzz and word-of-mouth marketers, practitioners and academics.

I started collaborating with a few VBMA members almost a year ago when I was drafting our word-of-mouth study — Perceptions, Practices and Ethics in Word of Mouth Marketing. I received some great insight and feedback which later grew into international partnerships and working relationships. I look at the organization as more of a network of really smart people that are using viral and buzz marketing in new ways that just an association.
