Uma or Shel

May 20th, 2006 · 1 Comment

During the panel I sat on at Beyond Blogging 2006 – The Corporate Perspective — Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Advertising — with Pete Blackshaw and Debbie Weil – our moderator Shel Holtz was discussing the referral power of an authentic customer and how consumers would rather listen to the product and service experiences of real people rather than actors. Shel went on to ask the audience: Who would you rather see Uma (Thurman) or Shel? At that point, I jumped in and said, “That’s a tough one.” It was a funny moment. (Disclosure: I’ve always had a crush on Uma Thurman and often share the story to whoever will listen that Uma and I “locked eyes” at the MTV Clinton/Gore Inaugural Ball.)

Personal Note: I have to mention, that as a moderator, I think Shel is one of the best moderators I’ve seen. He got the audience involved early in the conversation and kept the questions flowing. Fantastic job Shel.
